The FEHR story

Impressive models have been inspiring musicians all over the world for generations.
In 1950, Hans Conrad Fehr, a concert flutist and flute teacher, began to build the first instruments himself in Hinteregg. The instruments from the small workshop soon achieved world fame.
In 1958, the company founder died in a car accident and the Zurich businessman Bruno Séquin took over the company H.C. FEHR. He sensitively built up and expanded the workshop. Always following the ingenious ideas of the founder.

In 1960, the company moved to Stäfa into an Alto winegrowers' house at Goethestraße 13. At that time, the staff numbered 3, who made the instruments by hand. In the following years, the number of employees increased to 20, and a new workshop building was erected behind the house. was built behind the house. The instruments were in such demand at the time that, according to Michele Masucci, managing director until 2017, not a single flute was in stock at Christmas. The models convinced musicians worldwide.

In 2017, our showroom in Switzerland moved to Arlesheim.
We build the instruments in a new, larger workshop in Fulda. Still with FEHR's typical and well-considered mixture of tradition and modernity.

The artfully crafted instruments, which are still made in small series according to the original models developed in Switzerland by Hans Conrad Fehr and Heinz Ammann, are unique hand-intoned masterpieces made of the finest woods.
The careful combination of the ingenious model designs with modern craftsmanship and manufacturing techniques make FEHR recorders stand out pleasantly from the crowd.

This claim drives us in our workshop every day to push the boundaries further in the direction of consummate perfection.
Each instrument is a lovingly built and hand-intoned masterpiece.

Exceptionally long seasoned woods as well as tradition-conscious manufacturing processes lay the foundation for the uncompromising quality of our instruments.

2021 The Swiss warehouse is moved to Germany. This will make it possible to supply customers worldwide more quickly.

Now development, new construction and sales are all under one roof.
