Why a recorder gets a ring.

In our recorder sanatorium we repair recorders of all brands and manufacturers. One of our last patients was a Moeck Rottenburgh tenor recorder made of maple. It had caught a crack in the tenon heart of the foot joint.

This crack was in a place where we could not expect a permanently stable result with gluing alone.
We therefore glued the crack with a special resin, made a small ring from artificial ivory, fitted the recorder foot with a mould, placed the artificial ivory ring on the foot and turned the mould by hand.
