FEHR, Stäfa

What is special about FEHR?

The traditional FEHR brand has fascinated musicians all over the world for generations.

In 1950, Hans Conrad Fehr, a concert flutist and flute teacher, began to build the first instruments himself in Hinteregg. The instruments from the small workshop quickly became world famous. In 1958, the company founder died in a car accident and the Zurich businessman Bruno Séquin took over the H.C. FEHR company.

Werkstatthaus in StäfeIn 1960, the company moved to Stäfa into an alto winegrower's house at Goethestrasse 13. At that time, the workforce consisted of 3 employees who manufactured the instruments by hand. In the following years, the workforce grew to 20 people and a new workshop building was erected behind the house. The instruments were in such high demand at the time that, according to Michele Masucci, Managing Director until 2017, not a single recorder was left in stock at Christmas. The models won over musicians worldwide.

Even today, the skilfully crafted instruments, which are still produced in small series according to the original models developed in Switzerland by Hans Conrad Fehr and Heinz Ammann, are unique hand-crafted masterpieces made from the finest woods.

The unmistakably clear FEHR sound has been captivating recorder players and makers all over the world for decades.
We would be delighted if we could guide your search for a masterfully crafted recorder to its destination with one of our models.
